Straightforward yeah I've taken care of after a couple of procedures okay she had she was just black and she got she went to in february she was like oh was didn't in yeah she goes to the hospital would be great like it's a little strange that you can tell that's caused seizures yeah sorry what what can we manage this now I don't know what but she had the 4 thoracic artery today and the other part it all made ourselves close together okay so that's all we need to drop the bottle maybe mid 3 nights for a first time alright alright so I'll over just next 1 hello is it karen yes I am I'm rob I'm talking about doctor straws and doctor straws lovely to meet you and you how are you I'm okay thank you good I've just come to see you just because there's some talk of wanting to go home just to talk about why you want to go home and what we can do to make being in hospital better for you and explain why we would recommend strongly being in hospital and I'm sure that we've already had all of these discussions before what do you understand about being in hospital what do I understand that I'm an nuisance to everyone you're not I can make that clear I am and he is an inconvenience I've left my husband on his own and I dearly love him to bits of course and he me yeah and we've only been married 3 years coming up oh goodness so february 18 mhmm bit late in life I I lost my husband yeah I'm sorry and he was killed in the middle east both in the forces I was sorry I had to mhmm and then I came down and I joined the prison service wow believe it or not god that sounds so tough so tough absolutely and stuart and I met a lady in life mhmm and got on my hands on fire great thank you good and is stuart well not particularly is it actually tell me about that he has moments I think most men do yeah well I'd absolutely do we dig in there that is good to get a dig in that's fine no no I think most people have their their bad days it's the wrong place yeah because everything in modern day life tends to move and roll together mhmm doesn't it yeah that's true you say no sooner picked up 1 thing and then something else coming around the corner yeah it's hard and in what way is he unwell is he does does he need you to look up does he need you to look after him or is it that you just miss him no it's just the monday you know run of the mill I think I've got a bit of a cold mhmm yeah fine sort of smiling you know that's true yeah and then I guess the what I was asking mostly was about your understanding of what brought you into hospital what we found since you've been here and what we'd recommend what is your understanding understand what is your understanding about could you tell could you yes tell me what you understand I fell mhmm and then fell again in hospital mhmm which is not a good thing to do mhmm although it's handy you're in the right place yeah I understand about getting an mri I'm quite willing to come back and have an mri or any other form of treatment that you would recommend then in the meantime I want to spend my time with my husband yeah fine and so I guess that your understanding is reasonable what what do you understand that we found on our tests since we've been in hospital has anyone explained that to you no nobody has nobody has explained that to you alright so we believe that you've had a seizure at home we certainly have evidence that you had a seizure when you were in our emergency department so not just a fall seizures can be quite dangerous people can die from seizures and every seizure that you have damages your brain to a certain extent you've had a head scan which didn't show anything worrying in terms of bleed on the brain but raises the possibility that you might have had a stroke as a cause for that seizure well hopefully I will know but I know I need to be on the menu yes well the trouble is is that strokes when you've had 1 or had the possibility of having 1 it's very likely that you'll have another exactly and so that's why we recommend strongly people coming into hospital to have intensive treatment to make sure they don't have another stroke because another stroke could be disabling or fatal indeed yes yeah and the way to get that treatment is to establish whether or not you have had a stroke or not with an urgent mri scan we should be able to do that pretty quickly we usually get them done you know the same day or the next day and then starting you on some tablet treatment and monitoring you on that treatment to make sure that there's nothing else that we can fix to stop you from having another stroke and obviously if you had a stroke you'd be disabled for life and you could die lots of people have you unfortunately and obviously alcohol is a part of your life I understand yes but it's got a soul haven't it well would recommend that but I don't mean to preach at you and no 1 I'm sensible enough I'm sure to worry about the most out there and in hospital obviously there's been no alcohol which is very challenging when you use alcohol every day and is there anything we can do to make that bit easier for you you haven't really had any treatment for alcohol withdrawal and you look slightly fidgety to me like you might be feeling a little bit anxious from lacking the heart because I'm anxious because I want to go home yeah that's also part of it I'm sure I'm sure that's okay that's that is it yeah fine is there anything I can what I'd say is that I like to try and do what I can to make being in hospital as as good as possible because I do think that that is the best thing and if I were in your position I'd want my doctor to come and talk to me the way I'm talking to you say what can I do what can I do to make being in hospital better for you you're in a nice quiet room I'm sorry about the building noise we could give you a bit more medicine to try and get the alcohol withdrawal side of things better I could call your husband and ask him to come in to see you to spend time with you here I and wonder whether that might be quite a good compromise where you might be able to get the treatment that you need we might be able to make being in hospital better for you and also you might be able to see your husband what do you think about that it's good he could come here but it's the actual cost of coming here it's just astronomical where does he live where yeah highwick the other side of newtonabad yeah on the way out the road mhmm mhmm yeah so it's a fairway yeah I guess if you got a taxi it would be expensive I'm guessing he doesn't drive by what you've said no I guess you could get the bus it might take time but we could look after him when he got here teas and coffees and a nice comfortable chair and things like that we'd be much proud to be outside in the fresh air to tell you the honest truth yeah I understand so what's your understanding of why you're in hospital tell me about that I already told you previously I know would you tell me again yes of course I will thank you okay I drank too much got myself into a bit of a mess mhmm and ended up here mhmm and what have we found since you've been here what have you found what have we found since you've been here that there is a possibility that I may have had a stroke mhmm and definitely a seizure as you said priya mhmm and what would we recommend that I have an mri scan mhmm and why to see if there was any possibility that it could be leading to another stroke mhmm and what might happen if you have another stroke you'd be disabled for life mhmm what okay so then mhmm and any other risks if you went home and had another seizure I think yes guess from your? Of view I could start to drink again and have no intention of doing that I'm not allowed I I think I would recommend less alcohol but I you know I think that that is the least important thing for you at the moment the most important thing is the potential bad things happening with further strokes as you say no yeah okay and how would you get home I'd have to get a taxi mhmm which would be as you say astronomically expensive yes unpay the taxis rather than we got them mhmm and might your husband I mean it'd be the same amount of money for your husband to come here yeah but there again I and I just purely go either there mhmm so here you've got a here there mhmm or just a there I prefer that yeah yeah okay perfect would you like to speak to your husband to chat about what you want to do and why we'd recommend not or not no I think I'm quite happy to to make my own decision that's fine just that I want to be okay fair enough that's fine okay then I'll go take this call alright it's not a it's not a prism so I can't keep you you're welcome you know it's I think that you have an understanding of what's going on and and I think that you can make your own decision if you want to that's absolutely fine and I just want to do the best thing for you you're better to come to show me to come for the mri scan and in the meantime I promise I will be a good fight you know that stopping alcohol quickly can be disastrous you can have seizures you know that but then again if you're gonna do it you're gonna do it well alcohol withdrawal can be fatal so you should reduce the level gradually and not stop straight away you have a seizure you can die from alcohol withdrawal and people only seize when they stop drinking suddenly but I will not behave like I'm behaved in the box okay that's fine is that a better way of phrasing it no no you can do whatever you want you're your own person you're an adult but I'm just trying to get you sick of it alright so please may I go now you can of course I can't help I can't keep you it's not present I just want to do the best thing for you okay and a thank you it's a pleasure thank you peace lily okay and you all have been up to me oh I know alright I don't know where we've been about it it's crazy alright see you later alright it's gonna be difficult yeah
