1 of the medical registrars nice to meet you hi you too how are you feeling not and awful oh I'm so sorry why are you feeling awful well can do something to make you feel better yes please I'd love to where do you feel awful well which I don't normally suffer mhmm and the words might come on as well right is a cough normal for you or is that something new no cough is that right tell me I was and then the next day you are I felt worse being in therapy mhmm and the only thing I could put is down from seeing it seeing it so I'm starting hear you you seem to have quite good hearing I'm certainly not shouting no I can't hear I can't hear some people you're fine alright well that's good good I'm glad okay so a couple of days of cough some left sided chest pain and a headache over that time as well you've been coughing up some white sputum more than that that'll pretty much cover it it's all new to you does that pretty much cover it or have you had any other symptoms any passing water or tummy pain I've dropped them some time in my life have I 1 thing about getting cold well better it happens than it doesn't stop happening we'd get worried yeah better it happens than it doesn't thank you yeah and are your bowels the same story do they work are they working well yeah they're a bit they always want to give me laxity so I say I don't believe anybody will get rid of it when it should be okay and I've worked in my life so I'm not and they've had a read about your medical problems in the past but you don't seem to have too many you seem to stay out of hospital quite well oh I've had you 2 years mhmm and you'd never realized would you you'd never know no he he went after I was the last 1 when he'd done done in the town being professor of nursing so I was so lucky to have him oh great fantastic unless somebody tells you you really really want that energy tells tell me about your life more generally you live in yeah I'm really torho is it nice yeah it's nice good after you good excellent I'm really glad downstairs and is it a care home or nursing oh good it's a nursing yeah right and do you have any nursing needs I I need nursing mhmm because I can't do anything with my younger brother that works with my forearm and I'd give them education lessons okay because they're nearly all from southern india and knitting lessons very nice and where are you from where's your accent from do I come from it's a lovely southern accent isn't it oh well I come from london london right whereabouts in london well the old hybrid football ground lovely in eastington and then at the beginning well far as my mother is concerned yeah she wasn't having that mhmm so I had an aunt sent up to her mhmm mhmm and there was a there was a in london there was an area that was bomb bombed mhmm and then there was this stretch of land that went all the way around it mhmm but you weren't evacuated from or to I see and and barnet was in that and barnet was in that yeah that's how I came to live in barnet mhmm and then how did you come to live in plymouth well I met and married a barnet boy okay moved to the east midlands mhmm birmingham 29 miles far okay paul haram ferrys it was where the a 6 on the okay cross mhmm after my husband got the children mhmm but they're good mhmm like that and down here it's just slightly more yeah and that's what I'm doing so yes I was okay now uh-huh more doing terrific yes fine wonderful and did you ever work were you looking after the kids I worked in my life did you due for anything from when I was 16 mhmm and when I was 60 I was wow what did do for a living well I thanks mhmm I worked in for a water boarder mhmm not the okay wessex water what was that been your partnership it was in those days it was e valley water company okay but subsequently of course it was bought up by the were you engineering there mhmm what were you doing in the water engineering company well I was responsible for those days it was a completely different you had your staff you had water and sweat he lived in a waterborne house he was responsible for which was much better because he knew everything that went on in there so you know if you had a birthmate mhmm you'd phone up charlie and say you know so you'd say yes or no you know do turn off this this and this mhmm yeah yeah and then go and repair it in those days I mean nowadays they they'll contract and they'll mhmm whereas having waterborne houses that sounds like a much more rewarding way of doing things oh yeah mhmm I know when I retired in 1987 okay probably before you were old yes I was born in 1993 so yeah oh well you were 4 years old no 1993 1993 yeah 5 years before I was born in '22 and for you allergic to it well when I was out fruit the skin or the fruit the fruit the fruit fine alright I cut out once I went for dinner mhmm and fair enough worth it no agree it's not worth being home perfect and that they look after you and what do they do for you in tour home electricity everything they help with washing dressing yeah how do you get over a bit of the night I should say and then you're up in the electric so I don't need you to start is there nothing you've noticed I know that's me these last few months I've some cough sounds do you smoke no ever smoked a drug before I gave up from 1 in 10 years you're 20 then when did you smoke from when you were 16 say oh you don't have to take anything you just listen to your heart to stop why is it coming on your side think it's too bad your heart sounds very good for being I think I'm at 98 years old sounding very good for that no I don't your heart's sounding very good despite being 98 years old my fault do not wish I should fair enough I think that's the right decision if I were you I would that's what I would say k I apologize it does sound like you've an infection on that left side yeah and your bowels are working well can I touch your tummy yes thank you not sore anywhere no okay and then you've got a nice little patch see you very small look at that that's good I like gilbert's teeth gilbert's teeth alright very clearly just press on the x just to see what blood clots in those patients I saw that you'd had them before yeah and you have a a problem with the blood that makes it clot is that right yeah yeah okay is that right yes I'm happy okay I feel you squeezing on both sides take a a big squeeze on both sides and see how strong you are very good alright then alright how about your toes can you give them a wiggle for me on both sides that one's alright this one's the next 1 this right 1 you're getting reasonable lovely so we've had some observations done we should probably take some blood tests from you and use a small drip in to do some antibiotic yes see the young lady said that what might be going on I suspect there's an infection in your chest get an x-ray of your chest yeah if you produce any of that sputum maybe you've cough up and let us have a sample of it and we'll send it to our lab to see what we can grow and we'll also make sure we look for an infection don't apologize it's fine everywhere else in terms of testing your urine and a swab from the back it's great to make sure you don't have any infection you have forgotten or any questions that you no think of anything ungrasped that boy very good lovely to see I'll leave the light on because they'll come and take some blood from me yeah that's good I'll look at the stuff let me see how just normal blood these knees I'll just write it down f d z n c d a l f t mhmm and the crp is the is the cannula thank you a in yeah do you have a cannula you should probably have some other antibiotics okay
